Cloisonné Hippo from the Kind Tut Exhibit

The Hippopotamus is one of the most dangerous and deadly animals on the earth. The hippopotamus (no longer found in Egypt) was a danger to boats on the river Nile, and to people working on or near the river banks. ... She was also a goddess of fertility, represented as a pregnant hippopotamus.

This little hippo is close to a couple of inches long and hides a sweet little box interior. Just lift its back and voila! Hidden... well whatever you want to hide in there.Due to the nature of the deisgn in the Cloisonné,  the seams of the box do not show at all. It is a beautiful little creature in a medium blie. The Hippo was the god of fertility in ancient Egypt.
